Behind the Boardroom Coup That Forced Steve Jobs Into Exile

A note on the reporting, plus a link to the Vanity Fair excerpt

Vanity Fair published an excerpt from my book this morning. It’s a scene from April 1985 where Jobs is pushed out as Chairman from Apple, the company he cofounded.

The scene was one of the hardest in the book to reconstruct. A handful of people were close enough to remember it. Jay Elliot, Apple’s HR chief, was in the room for an office shouting match that made Jobs cry. Susan Barnes, the Macintosh financial controller, watched Jobs go into the exile that followed and called it “cruel.”
